Aaron is a counselor-in-training, somatic life coach, educator, and dance community organizer in the Raleigh-Durham area.

Aaron is deeply fascinated by the neurobiology of resilience, the brain-body connection, and the way that our nervous systems co-regulate in community. He works from an integrated framework that incorporates modern neuroscience and embodied tools, building on his more than 20 years of experience in various movement disciplines ranging from martial arts, Buddhist meditation, yoga, and dance. For the last 10 years, he has become increasingly passionate about partner social dance and its potential as a therapeutic adjunct with profound mental health benefits.

Aaron works with adults and adolescents at various stages of life and serves a diverse population. He works with clients on issues ranging from anxiety and depression, relationship challenges, life transitions and work-life challenges, grief and loss, as well as intergenerational and complex trauma.

Aaron uses an embodied and trauma-informed approach to therapy, rooted in attachment theory and relational-cultural theory (RCT), to help his clients develop greater capacity for somatic awareness, nervous system regulation, communication, and self-efficacy. He mixes a variety of therapeutic styles in his work including trauma-informed CBT, somatic and polyvagal mapping, mindfulness practices, and Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) therapy, built upon a warm and person-centered humanistic foundation. In addition to the somatic approach, Aaron deeply enjoys exploring existential and spiritual counseling with his clients.

Aaron holds bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Religious Studies from Macalester College, as well as a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from NC State. He is currently working on a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from NC State (expected graduation in 2025).
